Goddess Saraswati is associated with all aspects of education. She is represented as the goddess of knowledge, learning, intelligence, music and the arts. The deity is portrayed with four arms and sitting on a white lotus. Dressed in a white sari, she holds a veena with two hands and has a rosary and a book representing the Vedas in the other two hands.
A special pooja is done in honour of the goddess on the ninth day of the Navaratri festival and on the fifth day of Panchami known as Vasant Panchami. It is said that the goddess was born on Vasant Panchami.

It is believed that chanting Saraswati mantras for 21 consecutive days 64 times in the morning and evening undoubtedly brings Devi’s blessings.

You can do a Saraswati pooja by putting a white or yellow cloth under a stool or pedestal and placing her idol or statue on it. It is recommended to use a cloth of one of these colours because they are said to be her favourite colours. Light a lamp in front of her and recite one or mantras with fervour. Chanting the Saraswati Mata arti is another good option.

The goddess can be pleased by offering food such as kheer, malpua or boondi. You can also offer any seasonal fruit if it is not possible to prepare any of the mentioned items. It is considered auspicious to do her pooja with yellow palash or champa while yellow flowers like allamanda, sunflower and rose can also be used.
