  1. Surya Mantra

Namah Suryaya Shantaya Sarvaroga Nivaarine

 Ayu rarogya maisvairyam dehi devah jagatpate

This mantra is recited as a salutation to the Sun, stressing on the fact that he can cure any illness. It is also an appeal to the Surya devta to bless the chanter with good physical and mental health, long life, and wealth.

A person suffering from any illness is believed to be greatly benefitted by chanting this mantra with utmost devotion.

  1. Surya Gayatri Mantra

Om Bhaskaraya Vidmahe Mahadutyathikaraya Dheemahi Tanah Surya Prachodayat

This is a very powerful mantra and is often recited during a solar eclipse. It describes how the Sun lights up the world with his magical energy. The chanter requests Lord Surya to bestow him/her with good intellect keep him from ignorance. .

It is said that this mantra strengthens the chanter’s body and purifies his/her mind with positive energy. The mantra protects him/her from hardships and is bequeathed with spiritual upliftment. He/she is also blessed with fame and success.

Om Hraam Hreem Hraum Sah Suryay Namah     

This mantra praises the Sun god for his divine and magnificent power to render a life of fame and abundance with austerity and prosperity. The hymn also praises the Lord for his healing powers that can free a person of any negative impact or disease. The chanter is blessed with grace and positive vibrations.

  1. Aditya Hrudhayam Mantra

Aaditya Hrudhaya Punyam Sarva Sathru Vinaasanam

Jayaavaham Jabe nityam Akshayam Paramam Shivam   

This mantra thanks Lord Surya for all that he provides and acknowledges him for removing obstacles in the chanter’s life. It helps the reciter to remain fearless and cleanse his/her mind to keep it free of negative thoughts such as treachery, ego, desire, anger, greed, etc.

The best way to please the Sun god with your prayers is to offer him water while you chant the mantras. It is believed that chanting the Surya mantra soon after sunrise. You can fill a copper pot with clean water and add some pieces of jaggery, honey, and a little rice. Chant the mantra with full devotion focusing on the sun as you pour the water on the ground.
